Film Noir Remakes
These movies are later film noir remakes of the original classic versions from the forties or fifties. Why make such a list? Maybe you saw one of these films from the 60's through today and didn't know it was based on an earlier
classic. Or maybe you did, but couldn't quite remember the name of the original, or when it came out.
Or, you may be curious to find out if any of your film noir favorites have a more recent, updated version? True, they can often be more disappointing than the original. Other times, though, the addition of color, modern editing and music can add significant depth to the story. Sometimes.
While some of the following are truly film noir remakes, others may just be other versions based on the same novel as the earlier film. The first film listed in each entry is the original, with the date it came out and the key players. The second film listed will be the remake, with its own date and key players.
