Where To Find
Film Noir DVD Movies

If you're looking for film noir DVD movies or videos for your own collection, read on for ideas on where to find them. Whether you want them new or used, you can find these beloved classic movies of the 40's and 50's in online stores as well as offline.

One thing to consider when shopping around is that there are many cheap public domain editions for sale, which may or may not be of decent quality. Several of these film noir movies may be packaged together into box sets. This may be the way to go if you want to get a good deal price-wise and don't mind if the quality of one or more of the recordings turn out to be rough.

Some of the big studios have been releasing their film noir movies as DVDs, either singly or in box sets also. Warner Brothers, Universal and Fox have done this, not only with their classic noirs, but with some of their more obscure titles as well. The MGM and RKO collections are owned by Warner Brothers Home Video.

You may want to check local bookstore chains that also sell film noir movies on DVD, such as Borders or Barnes & Noble for any classic noirs they may have.

Noirfilm.com is probably the best place for serious collectors to find rare, used DVDs and videotapes for sale. You can also trade with them from your own collection. The nice thing about this service is that you can request a title and they will let you know what varying qualities they have available, so there's no nasty surprises. Greencine.com has a large section of film noir DVDs, both for sale and for rent. They provide members reviews of the films in addition to synopses.

MoviesUnlimited.com has a large section of film noir
titles, mostly as DVD, but there are quite a few VHS films as well. To get to the right category is a little complicated though. From their home page, click on either the DVD or VHS category. Then click on Mystery on the next page. Finally, click on Film Noir Classics to get to the listings.

Epinions.com is a site that has reviews of the films and compares prices on DVDs between stores such as Amazon, Walmart and Overstock.com. They don't have a film noir category per se, but if you type "film noir" into the search box, you'll get a large selection of classic noirs and neo-noirs mixed.

Amazon has new and used DVDs for sale. They also have a few VHS videotapes. Again, they don't have a noir category, but if you type it into the search box, you'll get a large selection, including boxed sets. Now, they have the Unbox which offers movie downloads.

Ebay, of course, is another source for finding new and used film noir DVDs. See what film noir movies are on eBay right now.
